Bolivia is one of the most underestimated countries in South America. A land of mountains and mystery, shaped by an unusual climate and a population deeply rooted in ancient traditions. The country never tried to make itself accessible to outsiders. Bolivians know the value of what they have, and they won’t lower it just to please foreigners. More than one person told us not to go, saying it was a waste of time and that the people were “too hard to reach” compared to other countries in the region.

Once we arrived with the rest of the Importation Cafetero team, we were immediately struck by the country’s mystical and authentic traditions. Bolivians don’t deal in tricks or double games they are among the most honest people we’ve met. And when it comes to their coffee, even if the volume is small compared to other producing countries, the quality is exceptional. The country’s unique climate creates a sensory profile that is rare and highly sought after by true coffee specialists. Our selection process in Caranavi confirmed everything we had heard: high-altitude farms, careful washed processing, and families who take their craft seriously. Importation Cafetero is proud to have built a close, privileged relationship with the community there, who welcomed us as if we were part of their own family, and trusted us with some of their finest micro-lots.

Once all the logistics and import work were finally done, it was time to introduce Quebec to a richness they had never really seen. In North America, the market runs on supply and demand and the moment Bolivian coffee hit the shelves, it took only a few days before our stock was completely gone. The demand spoke for itself, and Importation Cafetero started earning its place in Canada. None of this would have happened without our friends in Bolivia, who welcomed us with open arms and whom we continue to visit every year..
